  • Hydrogen Solaris buses to go to France

Solaris has been awarded with a prestigious order to supply eight articulated hydrogen-powered buses to the French city of Belfort.

The vehicles – Solaris Urbino 18 hydrogen – are 18 meters long and are to be equipped with a state-of-the-art hydrogen system, including a 100 kW fuel cell and hydrogen tanks with a capacity of more than 50 kg, operating at a pressure of 350 bar. The buses are to be supported by Solaris High Power batteries and powered by a 240 kW electric motor.

The buses are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2025 and will be used by the Régie des Transports du Territoire de Belfort (RTTB), which manages transport in the region.

Solaris stresses that the new hydrogen buses will help improve air quality in Belfort and provide modern public transport.

This is the third order for hydrogen-powered buses from the French market in recent months. The use of hydrogen technology in public transport is gaining in popularity. Solaris has almost 50% share in the European hydrogen bus market.
